United Family Healthcare and Xuanwu Hospital Thoracic Surgery Department Forge Partnership
United Family Healthcare (UFH), Asia’s premium standard-setting healthcare network, and the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Xuanwu Hospital, a nationally-recognized team led by Dr. Zhi Xiuyi, have announced a partnership to create a Collaborative Inpatient Unit at Beijing United Family Hospital, with the goal of offering high quality thoracic surgical care from a multidisciplinary team that integrates the market-leading strengths of both organizations. UFH has also joined forces with the Capital University Lung Cancer Center, also led by Dr. Zhi, to provide expert care for the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with lung cancer.
The Collaborative Inpatient Unit and Lung Cancer Center will draw on the distinct strengths of UFH and Xuanwu. UFH is a pioneering international healthcare system that offers patient-centered care and utilizes state-of-the-art technologies such as the da Vinci® Si Surgical System. This, combined with Xuanwu’s technical expertise, will improve patient experience and provide access to expert thoracic surgeons while improving the quality of care.
“Partnering with Capital University Lung Cancer Center and the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Xuanwu Hospital greatly serves our mission of benefiting cancer patients,” said Sylvia Pan, General Manager of Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics. “We believe our partnership will allow us to further integrate our strengths in internal medicine, surgery, radiation oncology, da Vinci robotic-assisted minimally invasive technology and rehabilitation, and successfully transform our multidisciplinary expertise into higher quality of care.”
According to Dr. Zhi, “We have a shared vision for this partnership with UFH, which is to incorporate cancer prevention, screening, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, with pain management, traditional Chinese medicine, psychology, nutrition and more to provide cancer treatments tailored to each patient’s particular needs. With excellent experience in oncology rehabilitation and home health, UFH is the only platform positioned to benefit lung cancer patients in such a holistic way.”
Apart from offering consultations at UFH’s New Hope Oncology Center, Dr. Zhi’s team will also perform da Vinci robotic assisted thoracic surgeries.
“Da Vinci has brought the benefits of minimally invasive surgery to millions of patients worldwide,” said Dr. Zhi. “It is one of the most advanced surgical technologies available, giving surgeons better vision, precision, dexterity, and control. Beijing United Family Hospital is the first private healthcare institution in China to employ this system and has successfully completed dozens of surgeries in a range of specialties. Our team of surgeons is excited about the wonderful opportunity to utilize this cutting edge technology and achieve optimal outcomes alongside the multidisciplinary team from UFH.”
